Rules for G1 Licence Holder

  • Blood Alcohol level MUST be 0 while driving.
  • Each passenger of vehicle must have a working seat belt on.
  • Must not drive between midnight and 5 AM.
  • G1 licence holder can not drive alone. G1 licenced driver must be accompanied by a driver with a valid Class G licence (or higher) with at least 4 years of driving experience. They must have blood alcohol level of less than 0.05% (0% if they are 21 years of agae or younger).
  • Must not drive on roads which have speed limit of more than 80km/h.
  • Can't drive on the 400 series highways (401, 404, 400 etc.), the QEW, the DVP, the Gardiner Expressway, the E.C. Row Expressway, and the Conestoga Parkway in Kitchener-Waterloo without Licenced Driving Instructor.


Rules for G2 Licence Holder

  • Blood Alcohol level MUST be 0 while driving.
  • Each passenger of vehicle must have a working seat belt on.
If you are 19 years old or younger, or received your G2 before Sept. 1, 2005, then you have following restrictions if you want to drive between mid night and 5AM:
  • Only allowed to have 1 passenger 19 years old or younger druing first 6 month of you G2 licence.
  • After 6 months, until you turn 20 yrs or obtain your full licence, you are allowed to have up to 3 passengers age 19 or under.
Above does not appy
  • if you are accompanied by valid Class G licence (or higher) holder driver with at least 4 yrs of experience.
    OR
  • if your passengers are your immediate family/guardian or anyone related to you by blood marriage, common law or adoption.
